details more than 2,200 writing instrument trademarks filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office between 1870, when the first federal trademark law was enacted, and 1953.  All trademark images are reprinted in the first two sections of the book (an alphabetical listing for trademarks containing words, followed by a section of trademarks consisting of pictures only).  Following that are spreadsheets organizing all of the available data with respect to filed trademarks by date, description, company and by the individual registrant who filed them.  Last is an appendix containing excerpts in the public domain from the pen-related sections of the 1896, 1904, 1915 and 1922 editions of
Trade-Marks of the Jewelry and Kindred Trades.
The book includes a DVD containing images of all available trademark registration certificates.
